Cains Coffee Building

Our client, OKC-based HGL Construction, wanted to convert the historic 5-story, 50,000SF Cains Coffee Building (built in 1918) into a new mixed-use building. The plans involved office space for a new HGL headquarters, as well as additional leased office space, restaurants, and more.

This historic building was eligible for Historic Tax Credits, which the client pursued with the assistance of historic preservation consultant Preservation and Design Studio. We worked with PDS to ensure the design adhered to the requirements of the National Park Service and the State Historic Preservation Office. It was important to retain and preserve defining characteristics such as the original glazed brick and steel windows.
