Autumn Tiller, RCID, NCIDQ, Assoc. IIDA

Interior Designer

Autumn Tiller was drawn to space planning and furniture at a young age. Raised in Tulsa as a latchkey kid, her mother would often return home to rearranged living or bedrooms after an overnight shift. Naturally, Autumn ended up pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Interior Design and Facility Management from Oklahoma State University-Stillwater in 2011, where her passion for space planning and commercial furniture took a more concrete form. She later translated her space planning skills to a community level by pursuing a master’s degree in Urban Design at the University of Oklahoma-Tulsa, where she was selected as the first Albert Schweitzer Fellow representing the program and inaugural Diversity, Equity and Inclusion scholar at Selser Schafer Architects.

Autumn’s career experience is varied—ranging from 4 years of experience in environmental graphics and signage design, to a year in facilities management, to 5 years as an interior designer in Staples’ contract furniture division. There, she was responsible for providing virtual and in-person support to sellers, managers, internal and architectural designers and end users. With majority of her projects being remote, they spanned from coast to coast and border to border—ranging from single offices to phased, multiple floors totaling tens of thousands of square feet. She also served on dedicated design teams for high-profile national accounts such as HCA Healthcare, 3M and Kimley-Horn.

The services she provided included leading client meetings, conducting site visits/field dimensioning, programming, conceptual layouts/block planning, product selection, code research, finish selection, presentation documents, preliminary/final drawings and revisions, furniture specifications, install drawings, and punch specifications. The market segments she served covered corporate, healthcare, government and tribal, K-12, higher education and hospitality environments. She gained experience planning and specifying end products such as systems furniture/benching, modular/pre-assembled casegoods, and freestanding/modular tables and seating.

Whilst gaining 10 years of industry experience, she spent 3 of those working toward her personal goal of attaining both national NCIDQ and state RCID appellations. Outside of work she is active in IIDA, holding positions on both Tulsa City Center and national Equity, Diversity and Inclusion councils. She also enjoys baking, brunching, and sharing her free time with her wife Glennda, their son Dev, and two dogs Nugget and Poppy. Some of her hobbies include random/conversational dancing, finding songs applicable to almost any topic/situation, sketching, on-demand doodling for Dev and loom knitting
